Citizen joins a global network of companies that are bringing new ideas to their communities and the world. With Endeavor’s help, it will go from an early-growth company to a scale-up.
MIAMI – May 27th 2016 – Endeavor Miami announced today that Guillaume Lellouche and Katie D’Amore, Co-Founders of Citizen, were selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs (“EEs”). Katie and Guillaume join Endeavor Miami’s growing portfolio, which is composed of twenty additional entrepreneurs from thirteen companies. Citizen was chosen by panelists at Endeavor Global’s 64th International Selection Panel (“ISP”), which was held in Madrid, Spain from May 25th to 27th.
Citizen provides its customers with a frictionless, convenient experience in filling-out and submitting electronic government forms, which include the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”). “We are thrilled to become a part of the Endeavor network and have access to its world class mentorship network”, said Guillaume Lellouche, Co-Founder and CEO of Citizen. “We have already met a great group of mentors through Endeavor and look forward to meeting with more to help accelerate our growth”, added Co-Founder and CAO Katie D’Amore.
Endeavor’s ISP is the culmination of a long and rigorous selection process, where panels composed of six top global business leaders, entrepreneurs and/or investors, interview candidates about their businesses, high-impact leadership potential, and timing. In order for an entrepreneur to be selected, they must receive the unanimous vote of all panelists. Citizen was interviewed by Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete, CEO of Telefonica; Martin Migoya, Co-Founder & CEO of Globant; Fabio Cannavale, Founder & CEO of lastminute.com; Dan Green, Partner at Gunderson Dettmer; Beatriz Corredor, Director Institutional Relations, Former Minister of Housing; and Oskar Miel, Managing Partner of Rakuten, all who gave powerful feedback to Citizen co-founders through-out the ISP.
Endeavor Miami’s board members and mentors have been actively engaged in helping entrepreneurs scale since Endeavor Miami launched three and a half years ago. During this ISP, Endeavor Miami Board Member, Matt Haggman, Miami Program Director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation; and Endeavor Mentor, Leonel Azuela, CEO Quaxar and Grupo Brisa, participated as panelists, interviewing a different set of six companies from diverse countries representing the Endeavor’s affiliate offices.
“Citizen joins a global network of companies that are bringing new ideas to their communities and the world. With Endeavor’s help, it will go from an early-growth company to a scale-up, adding to the success of Miami’s growing innovation ecosystem,” said Matt Haggman at the culmination of the ISP.
Leonel Azuela noted “I enjoyed very much being a panelist in the International Selection Panel (ISP). Now I really understand how rigorous the process is, and how difficult it is to be selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur. In the panel I participated in, only 50% of the entrepreneurs were selected and the others were asked to return for another ISP after meeting certain milestones. I am sure that the feedback they received will change their companies and themselves as entrepreneurs for the better.”
Endeavor Miami launched its operations on September 2013 with the support of Knight Foundation and possesses a very active local board of business leaders, each of whom believes that high-impact entrepreneurship can transform Miami.
Endeavor Entrepreneurs receive services which include mentorship, access to capital, access to global markets, as well as access to talent. For more information on Endeavor Miami or to nominate entrepreneurs, please visit www.endeavormiami.org.
