Koywe Founders Join Endeavor’s Global Entrepreneur Network.
- Koywe, established in 2022, is building the financial rails for a new era of cross-border trade in Latin America.
What began as a childhood friendship has evolved into one of Latin America’s most promising financial infrastructure success stories. Ignacio Detmer Latorre and Guillermo Acuña, co-founders of Koywe, have been selected as Endeavor Entrepreneurs, joining Endeavor’s global network of high-impact founders after going through the organization’s rigorous International Selection Panel (ISP), which was held last July 13th in Athens, Greece.
The two entrepreneurs first met at the age of five in primary school in Chile and later studied together at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. After pursuing separate careers building and scaling high-growth technology companies, they reunited years later and began exploring the potential of digital assets and blockchain technology. Those conversations led them to identify a much larger opportunity: building the financial infrastructure companies needed to move money across borders with greater speed, transparency, and efficiency. Koywe formally came to life after Ignacio and Guillermo joined Y Combinator’s Winter 2023 (W23) batch, a milestone that helped transform their vision into a rapidly growing company.
Today, Koywe operates a unified financial infrastructure platform that enables companies to collect payments locally, settle in stablecoins or fiat currencies, issue compliant electronic invoices, and access same-day FX at competitive rates. The platform processes more than $2B in annual transaction volume, reflecting the rapid adoption of its financial infrastructure platform across Latin America. Backed by $12.5 million in funding from investors including Y Combinator, Franklin Templeton, and Concentric VC, Koywe has also established strategic partnerships with Circle through the Circle Payments Network (CPN), Tether through its T-0 initiative, and Mastercard through the Mastercard Move program, reinforcing its position as a trusted financial infrastructure provider for cross-border commerce in Latin America.
Koywe’s growth reflects a broader transformation taking place in seven markets across the region. According to The Digital Chamber, 71% of Latin American institutions have already adopted stablecoins for cross-border payments, becoming the highest regional adoption rate in the world. As enterprises increasingly seek faster settlement, lower foreign exchange costs, and compliance-ready financial solutions, Koywe is helping bridge traditional financial systems with the next generation of digital payment infrastructure.
Before launching Koywe, Ignacio Detmer co-founded Frontier Car Group, a unicorn later acquired by Prosus Group, while Guillermo Acuña co-founded Cumplo, one of Latin America’s pioneering digital lending platforms. Drawing on their experience in technology, financial services, and local payment systems, they saw an opportunity to build a regulated financial infrastructure connecting local currencies with tokenized assets through APIs—laying the foundation for Koywe.
“I am very happy to become an Endeavor Entrepreneur and join this extraordinary global network,” said Guillermo Acuña, CTO & CPO of Koywe. “It was a long and rigorous process that challenged many of our assumptions, and the feedback we received throughout the journey will undoubtedly help us as we continue to grow. We are excited to become part of this community and to give back by supporting and helping multiply the impact of fellow Endeavor Entrepreneurs around the world.”
“Experiencing the International Selection Panel and spending time with fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, panelists, and the Endeavor team reinforced that every step of this journey was worth it,” said Ignacio Detmer Latorre, CEO of Koywe. “I left inspired, energized, and more motivated than ever to keep building Koywe.”
Long before becoming Endeavor Entrepreneurs, Detmer and Acuña were active members of the Endeavor ecosystem through Endeavor ScaleUp. Their journey has come full circle—building meaningful relationships, accessing strategic support, and becoming part of a community that has supported them every step of the way and continues to do so as they scale.
“When Ignacio and Guillermo saw an opportunity to rethink how money moves across Latin America, they didn’t just identify a problem; they set out to change the system,” said Claudia Durán, Regional Managing Director for North America and Managing Director of Endeavor Miami. “That bold vision, combined with exceptional execution, is exactly what Endeavor looks for in entrepreneurs, and we are proud to support them as they continue scaling cross-border.”
As Endeavor Entrepreneurs, Ignacio Detmer and Guillermo Acuña join a global community of more than 2,900 founders leading some of the world’s most innovative companies. Through Endeavor, they will gain access to world-class mentors, investors, and business leaders across more than 50 markets while contributing to the organization’s multiplier effect by mentoring and supporting future generations of entrepreneurs.
