Endeavor offers many services to its Endeavor Entrepreneurs, focusing on four main pillars; Access to Talent, Access to Mentors + Networks, Access to Capital and Access to Markets. Given that Endeavor has a presence in 34 growth markets around the world, this last one is particularly of use to those seeking to expand their operations. This past April, a delegation from Endeavor Chile comprised of Endeavor Entrepreneurs, staff and partners, visited Miami as part of an exploratory Access to Markets tour.
The tour kicked off on April 11th, 2019 at the Miami Campus of TheVentureCity, an Endeavor partner. Laura Maydón, Managing Director of Endeavor Miami and Matt Haggman, Founding Board Member of Endeavor Miami welcomed the group and gave context on the Miami ecosystem and its recent growth. “Opening Endeavor Miami and its success has only been possible because of the success of Endeavor Chile” expressed Matt Haggman, Endeavor Miami Board Member. “Endeavor Chile has been the inspiration for Endeavor Miami.”
There, the entrepreneurs had an interactive chat on how to choose the correct investment fund with Laura Gonzalez-Estefani, CEO and Founder of TheVentureCity. They also spoke to Rebecca Yaker and Oscar Levin from Yaker Law firm, regarding the immigration process for entrepreneurs seeking to open operations in the US.
At Wyncode Academy, an Endeavor Miami Company, the entrepreneurs met with Kip True, VP of Wyntalent, Luis Luciani,, Managing Director of ASAP Services and with our partners from Miami-Dade Beacon Council, Diana Londono and Christine Johnson about the importance of recruiting and retaining talent, even more important when relocating or expanding your business.
The first day of the tour culminated at The Lab Miami, with Endeavor mentors Tigre Wenrich and Juan Pablo Cappello, discussing Miami’s investor networks. They explained to the entrepreneurs that they must be strategic when pitching to investors and not be afraid to modify the pitch depending on who the audience is.
During the second day of Endeavor Chile’s Tour in Miami we had the opportunity to meet with two Endeavor Miami Entrepreneurs and one of our mentors. The day started at Nearpod with Co-Founder Felipe Sommer, he explained his experience starting a business in Miami as a Latin American entrepreneur and the success they have had. They are tackling the lack of engagement of the students in the classroom and they just acquired Flocabulary and they believe it’s an excellent acquisition to continue with their goal.
At the Visa Innovation Lab the entrepreneurs met with Endeavor Miami Entrepreneur and Board Member Anabel Perez, Founder and CEO of NovoPayment who spoke about her experience in the industry and ways to successfully collaborate with partners.
The last stop of the day was at CISCO, with Endeavor Miami mentor Carlos Torales, Managing Director of Enterprise Solutions. They demonstrated the technological transformation they provide with Webex as a centralized information service. They also reinforced the importance of the security of the digital platform the business has, given we are living in a multi-cloud world.
The tour culminated at a Happy Hour on Tuesday afternoon to network, make connections and learn from each other.
