I’m excited to welcome Claudia to the Endeavor family and look forward to continuing to support the organization.
MIAMI (June 6th, 2019) Endeavor Miami announced today that its Board of Directors has selected Claudia Durán as its new Managing Director. Durán will work with newly appointed co-chairs, Andres Moreno, and Ernest Bachrach to drive the strategic vision of the organization in South Florida.
Claudia Durán is an experienced business leader with a demonstrated history of strategic business development and entrepreneurship in the for-profit and non-profit industries across the Americas. Originally from El Salvador, Durán started her career at SAB Miller in her native country before moving to a strategic development role at Taca International Airlines. After her MBA, she moved to New York City to join Deutsche Bank’s Private Wealth Management group where she rose to the role of Assistant Vice President. Prior to joining Endeavor, Durán spent six years in São Paulo, Brazil, while living there, she became Managing Director of Ashoka, one of the world’s leading organizations supporting social entrepreneurs. In the past two years, Durán spearheaded a complete turnover of her family’s business in El Salvador and led the international business development of a Brazilian health organization. Durán holds an MBA from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Penn State University.
“I am honored to be part of this great organization and I am looking forward to continue building on the incredible work Laura, the Board and the team have done these past six years,” said Claudia Durán, incoming Managing Director. “I am excited to continue the exceptional track record of selecting and supporting South Florida’s best high-impact entrepreneurs. In this new growth stage of the organization, we will continue to honor our core mission and strengthen our entrepreneurial community. We will always be, first and foremost, of, by and for entrepreneurs.”
The Managing Director was appointed unanimously by the Board of Directors, following a recommendation from the Search Committee, comprised of Endeavor Miami Board Members, Adriana Cisneros, Daniel Echavarria, Anabel Perez, Andres Moreno and Ernest Bachrach, as well as Endeavor Entrepreneurs, Johanna Mikkola and Seth Cassell, and Adrian Garcia-Aranyos, President of Endeavor Global. Durán was chosen from a competitive pool of candidates vying for the role. Durán stood out for her experience and leadership in various financial, corporate, entrepreneurship and non-profit organizations, as well as her alignment with Endeavor values.
“We are thrilled to have Claudia join Endeavor Miami. Her depth and range of experience will be crucial to continue to drive our mission to select high-impact entrepreneurs, scale the services we offer to them and grow our network,” said Andres Moreno, Co-Chair Endeavor Miami.
As the new Managing Director, Durán will continue to drive the strategy to achieve the growth plans of the organization. In the next five years, Endeavor Miami expects to double the size of its portfolio generating almost half a billion dollars in revenue and creating over 5,000 jobs.
Durán succeeds Founding Managing Director, Laura Maydón, who announced her departure earlier this year and has helped with the transition. The Endeavor Miami Board also announced that it has appointed Laura Maydón to join the Board of Directors. “Under Laura’s vision and leadership these past six years, Endeavor Miami’s impact is evident. The organization is poised to continue to grow” said Ernest Bachrach, Co-Chair Endeavor Miami. “We are excited to have Laura join our Board.”
“I am incredibly proud of the impact our Endeavor Miami Entrepreneurs have had in our community,” said founding Managing Director, Laura Maydón. “I’m extremely thankful to the Board, our team, mentors, and partners who together help our South Florida entrepreneurs to continue to scale. I’m excited to welcome Claudia to the Endeavor family and look forward to continuing to support the organization. This is an exciting new stage for the organization.”
