MIAMI, FL– September 9, 2019 – For the second consecutive year, Endeavor Miami will gather forward-thinking business leaders who have successfully scaled their startups and disrupted the status-quo across diverse industries, such as aerospace, e-commerce, apparel, education and sustainable smart-home technology.
As Miami continues to grow as an innovation hub, some of Endeavor Miami’s entrepreneurs will be featured in the ScaleUp Summit. From the ed-tech minds behind Nearpod to the retail gurus who re-envisioned medical scrubs at FIGS, to the first coding school in Miami, Wyncode, these Endeavor Entrepreneurs are shaping the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Miami. The conference will be held on September 27, 2019 at the M Building (194 Northwest 30th Street, Miami, FL 33127) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“The ScaleUp Summit is excited to welcome entrepreneurs who have successfully scaled their businesses with cutting-edge technologies and are breaking new frontiers in their industries,” said Claudia Durán, Endeavor Miami Managing Director. “At Endeavor Miami, we are committed to supporting high-impact entrepreneurs that are driving economic growth and job creation in South Florida and beyond.”
The ScaleUp Summit will also feature conversations in different formats with entrepreneurs from Endeavor’s global network. Andres Moreno, Founder of Open Education and Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for Endeavor Miami, will give the opening remarks.
Adriana Cisneros, CEO of Cisneros and Founding Board Member of Endeavor Miami, will moderate the initial keynote fireside chatfeaturing Abel Avellan, chairman and CEO of Texas-based Avellan Space Technology & Science (AST & Science) and Emiliano Kargieman, CEO of Satellogic and Endeavor Entrepreneur, to discuss space as the new frontier and how their technologies are facilitating access to space-based services.
Following these space pioneers, two powerful businesswomen who are disrupting the apparel industry will participate in a series of Fireside Chats. Co-Founder of Gilt Groupe, Alexis Maybank, will talk about her trajectory as a serial entrepreneur and about championing women in tech in a chat moderated by John Quelch, Dean of the University of Miami Business School. Additionally, Trina Spear, Co-Founder of FIGS and Endeavor Entrepreneur will share her experience in revolutionizing medical apparel in a panel moderated by Johanna Mikkola, Co-Founder of Wyncode Academy and Endeavor Entrepreneur.
Featured local, national and international entrepreneurs will center their panel discussions around the theme of “Cities of the Future” and how they are leveraging innovation to drive an entrepreneurial-led economic development. Since 2008, the average major U.S. city saw an increase of more than three percent in GDP per capita, according to a recently released report by Endeavor’s research arm, Endeavor Insight. While this report outlined specifically the city of Miami’s competitive advantages, the conclusion rings true across all U.S. metropolitan areas: to boost a city’s economy, entrepreneurs and city leaders need to combine forces to invest in high-value sectors. Each city has its own unique entrepreneurial talent and once maximized, that talent is crucial to shaping the future of cities.
The summit will also feature two panel discussionswith entrepreneurs in the world of smart technology:
Endeavor Miami’s mission is to grow and support the ideas of entrepreneurs and it is at the ScaleUp Summit where those successful entrepreneurs gather to share their stories and industry insights. By creating an intimate setting for attendees to listen to and interact with acclaimed entrepreneurs, this event is designed to not only inspire its guests, but to enhance knowledge, foster strong networks and enable peer-to-peer support.
Make sure to register for the ScaleUp Summit to not miss out on the opportunity to network with high-impact entrepreneurs and learn from them. The summit will be followed by a happy hour event sponsored by Ron Santa Teresa.
