Endeavor Miami to Honor Marcelo Claure (SoftBank & Sprint) and Jorge and Jose Mas (MasTec) at its Annual Gala 2018
MIAMI, FL – October 29, 2018 – As a recognition for their influential contributions in entrepreneurship, Endeavor Miami will honor three world-class business leaders at its fifth annual gala. Marcelo Claure, CEO of SoftBank International, Chief Operating Officer of SoftBank Group and Executive Chairman of Sprint, Jorge Mas, Co-Founder and Chairman of MasTec, and Jose Mas, CEO of MasTec, will receive Endeavor Miami’s Impact Award during the event from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on November 10, at the Faena Forum in South Beach.
Endeavor Miami’s fifth annual gala will unite more than 350 business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and international influencers to celebrate South Florida’s high-impact entrepreneurship movement.
“We believe entrepreneurship is changing the South Florida landscape, and through the annual gala we want to celebrate and recognize high-impact entrepreneurs,” said Laura Maydon, Endeavor Miami Managing Director. “The honorees exhibit the characteristics that will inspire emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. Their dedication to transform the future of Miami aligns with Endeavor’s values of promoting high-impact entrepreneurship around the world.”
The Honorees
Highlighting his wide-range of accomplishments in the tech, banking, and sports industry, Marcelo Claure will be honored for his commitment to shining a light on the startup community in Miami through his inherent entrepreneurial spirit. His success began when he founded Brightstar Corp. in Miami in 1997, a company that became the largest mobile phone distribution and supply chain services company in the world and the largest Hispanic-owned business in U.S. history with revenue exceeding $12 billion.
Currently, Claure is CEO of SoftBank International and Chief Operating Officer of SoftBank Group where he is responsible for managing the financial and operational performance of companies with value in excess of $420 billion.
Claure’s story serves as an inspiration for Endeavor entrepreneurs and others in the startup community.
“Being able to contribute to the rise of Miami’s booming economic hub is something I feel very proud of,” said Claure. “South Florida has so much to offer, so building a bridge between its incredible culture and the entrepreneurial community allows for a positive transformation of the city with endless opportunities.”
Receiving the Impact Award alongside Claure are two brothers, Jorge and Jose Mas, who currently operate one of the largest infrastructure services providers in the United States. Jorge, Chairman and Co-Founder of MasTec, and Jose, CEO of MasTec, have led the company to reach $6.6 billion in revenue, obtaining recognition as a Fortune 500 company. The evolution and growth of MasTec is an indication of their impactful leadership skills and commitment to generating opportunities within the North American economy.
As partners of Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami, Claure’s and the Mas brothers’ most recent venture, they aim to bring Major League Soccer to South Florida, to continue promoting the city’s expansion through sports and entertainment.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be recognized by such a prominent organization like Endeavor Miami. We are honored to be part of their movement to catalyze economic growth and job creation by supporting the startup community in the city,” said Jorge Mas.
“Miami is a true melting pot,” added Jose Mas, “giving the city an advantage to provide future growth in a unique way. We genuinely value any chance we receive to continue on this successful journey.”
