MADRID, SPAIN (April 26th, 2019) – Endeavor Miami announced today that Miami-based TISSINI’s founder was selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur at Endeavor’s 87th International Selection Panel (ISP). The ISP was held in Madrid, Spain from April 24th to April 26th, and it is the culmination of a rigorous local selection process.
“Endeavor seeks to support those entrepreneurs that will have a tangible impact in their ecosystem, TISSINI embodies this vision,” said Laura Maydón, Managing Director of Endeavor Miami. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Sion into the family and look forward to supporting his growth and helping him scale to continue to empower more Hispanic women.”
Founded by Sion Tesone, TISSINI is a for-profit social enterprise that offers low-income US Hispanic immigrant women an opportunity to earn extra income and provide for their families. Through a single-level direct sales model, TISSINI’s clients – called Emprendedoras – purchase wholesale a variety of fashion and home goods sourced from Latin American partners and sell them for a profit. TISSINI provides a simple and flexible channel for extra income that makes a true difference in these women’s lives.
“TISSINI is in an exciting critical growth stage, and being part of Endeavor will help us with the speed and strategy of our growth,” said Sion Tesone, CEO of TISSINI. “It is an honor for me to join Endeavor’s global network. I look forward to the services that will help TISSINI scale and to contribute back to the network as well .”
Endeavor’s ISP is the culmination of a rigorous selection process where panels composed of top global business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors interview candidates about their business traction, leadership potential and timing to further scale. In order for an entrepreneur to be selected, they must receive a unanimous vote from the entire panel. Each panel consisted of sets of six world-class business leaders, who interviewed TISSINI, giving him targeted and thorough feedback. South Florida was well represented at the event with Endeavor Miami Board member Ernest Bachrach present and part of the panelists who interviewed candidates to select this class of Endeavor Entrepreneurs.
Endeavor Miami launched in September 2013 with the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation as the first U.S. affiliate of Endeavor Global. Endeavor Miami’s entrepreneurs generated close to $200 million in revenues and over 2,000 jobs in South Florida in 2017. With the addition of its newest companies, the affiliate currently supports 26 companies and 46 entrepreneurs.
