Endeavor Miami will honor Salim Ismail, founding executive director of Singularity University, co-founder of ExO Works and Fastrack Institute, board member of XPRIZE and author of the best-selling “Exponential Organizations”, at its fourth annual gala. Ismail will receive Endeavor Miami’s Impact Award at the gala, which will be held on Oct. 21, 2017 at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach.
An Endeavor Miami honoree is a change agent whose innovation disrupts the status quo and contributes to the high-impact entrepreneurship movement. Ismail has spent the last seven years building Singularity University (SU) as its founding executive director and current global ambassador. SU is based at NASA Ames with the goal to educate, inspire and empower a new generation of leaders to apply exponential technologies to address humanity’s grand challenges. During an address to gala attendees, Ismail will share his vision for entrepreneurship and what emerging technology trends mean for the future.
“As a result of accelerating change, I believe a new breed of businesses is scaling 10 times faster than established organizational structures,” said Ismail. “Endeavor fully embraces the concept of exponential organizations through its work in helping high-impact companies scale quickly, and I am honored to be recognized with this year’s Endeavor Miami Impact Award.”
The Endeavor Miami Gala celebrates the high-impact entrepreneurship movement in Miami, uniting more than 350 business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and international influencers. Endeavor Miami is the first U.S. affiliate of Endeavor, an organization dedicated to accelerating entrepreneurship and fueling worldwide economic growth by building communities of high-impact entrepreneurs and innovators. Since Endeavor Miami’s 2013 launch, 15 South Florida companies and 24 entrepreneurs have been introduced to Endeavor’s global network of business leaders, mentors and investors.
“We choose honorees each year that reflect the characteristics we believe will inspire our entrepreneurs and exemplify the progressive mindset that Endeavor selects in its companies,” said Laura Maydón, managing director of Endeavor Miami. “Salim is a visionary leader whose accomplishments are shaping the future of entrepreneurship and technology. We are thrilled to be honoring him at this year’s celebration of entrepreneurship.”
Previous IMPACT award recipients include Jessica Goldman Srebnick, CEO of Goldman Properties; Jim McKelvey, co-founder of Square and founder of LaunchCode; and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, co-founder of Gilt and GLAMSQUAD.
