José Fernández

José Fernández, Founder and CEO of Bankuish, is a Spanish economist with deep expertise in institutional finance, risk assessment, and micro-lending. Before launching Bankuish, he served as Director of Risk for two European banks and led Atlas, a micro-lending fintech operating across West Africa. The idea for Bankuish emerged from his own experience struggling to access basic financial services in the U.S. and was solidified during an immersive field study in Brazil, where he embedded himself in the gig-worker community to understand their financial exclusion firsthand. This on-the-ground research led to a breakthrough data collection approach that became the foundation of Bankuish’s credit risk model.

Today, José is building critical credit infrastructure for the global independent workforce, advancing financial access for millions, and has been selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur for his impact and vision.
